The Caminito del Rey is the headline, but the area around El Chorro is worth more than the walk itself: reservoirs, hill towns, a Moorish castle, ancient caves and some of the best flying terrain in Europe within about an hour and a quarter.
Whether you could not get a ticket or you already walked it, here is what to do with the rest of your time. We have grouped it by how much time you have.
The short version
- Next to the Caminito: the Guadalhorce reservoirs near Ardales (picnics, kayaking) and the Vía Ferrata at El Chorro.
- Within 30-40 minutes: Álora and its Moorish castle, Ardales and its cave, and the Bobastro ruins with a church carved in rock.
- Within about an hour: Antequera and its ancient dolmens.
- Within about an hour and a quarter: Ronda, where you can fly over the gorge from €100.
- Language: booking and the confirmation email are in English or Spanish; we also answer on WhatsApp in English.
